1st Day Back to Class

Today Jan 11, 2018 was the first day back to class. Today we went over the syllabus. This semester will be hands on. We will create videos and make a good profile. before class ended we watched a Television series that focused on the future. I thought that the series that we watched was ok but I think that I like the series Black mirror better.

History of Chocolate Rain: This song was created by Tay Zonday back in 2007. Written to talk about racism. Website Thoughts : Tay Zonday was the creator of this crazy song Chocolate Rain. Which went viral back in 2007. Tay Zonday says that his song deals with race issues in America. He hits points like prison racisms amongst African Americans, economic racism, and racial problems. Initially, when I first heard this song I would have never guessed that this song focused on racism. - Did you like the song? - Did you know it was about racism?

Everything Science Knows About Reading on Screens This article talks about the shift from paper to screens. As stated in the article, "It's left many wondering what we've lost or gained in the shift and a handful of scientists are trying to figure out the answer". This question is left unknown because of the different types of media and the person's preference. Studies show that many people who read online scan through the passage rather than actually reading the material. Studies show that many people who read off paper focus better rather than reading on a device. When reading on a device you are able to multi-task but when you are reading off of a paper its harder to multi-task which makes it easier to focus. Scanning through passages is called nonlinear reading. Nonlinear reading can hurt you when you have to do deep research or read a passage in depth. So basically, there are pros and cons when using a screen vs. using paper when performing cognitive
